SHOFCO was founded in 2004 as an NGO focused on grassroots movement that catalyzes large-scale transformation in urban slums by providing critical services for all, community advocacy platforms, and education and leadership development for women and girls.
When the first case of Covid-19 was detected in Kenya, SHOFCO embarked on working around the clock to mobilize slum communities around the threat of COVID-19, and are promoting best practices in a bid to prevent or contain the spread of the virus in the 14 urban slums where they work across Kenya.
As part of our contribution in the fight against the spread of Covid-19, we partnered with SHOFCO in the installation of hand washing stations in 6 major slums around Nairobi. These locations serve as sanitation points for the masses as well as key access points for health awareness information and distribution of information on Covid-19.
